Hindustan Chamber of Commerce
Hindustan Chamber of Commerce, a premier apex body/chamber was established way back in 1897, by few textile trade visionaries with a view not only to safeguard the interests of our Indian textile trade and industrial community but also to spearhead the very thought of promoting our textile trade interests against onslaught of Imperial regime and its trade practices. Since, then, this chamber is playing a role of a Torch-Bearer to our textile trade/industrial community as regard to Government Textile Policy Factors and related issues. This chamber at present having a strength of 2300+ membership precisely from textile trade/industry is based in Mumbai city, the business capital of India.
ACHIEVMENTS OVER THE YEARS :
- This institute has provided remarkable contribution in the freedom movement of the pre-independence era by one way or other. When most of the institutes were functioning precisely for the benefits of European Trade Community, this institute has spearheaded all its efforts to safeguard the trade interests of our domestic trade/industry community and thus enlightening the very spirit of nationalism among textile trade / industrial fraternity.
- Not mere survival of 110 years but also growing further by every means on a non-profit culture base itself is an achievement.
- This chamber has to its creditential to have provided warm welcome and due hospitality to many national dignitaries like, Father of Nation (LatE) Mahatma Gandhi, (Late) Rajendra Prasad Babu, (Late) Acharya Kriplani, (Late) Rajashri Purushottamdas Tandon, Ex-president of India, Shri Venkat Raman, Ex-Prime Minister of India, (Late) Morarji Desai, Shri A. B. Vajpayee and Shri H. D. Devegowda, Ex-Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Shri Bhairon Singh Shekhawat and many more from VIP galaxy.
- Twice recipient of “JAMNALAL BAJAJ UCHIT VYAVAHAR PURASKAR FOR FAIR BUSINESS PRACTICES” awards in the years of 1999 and again in 2003, looking at various service standards maintained by this chamber.
- To promote textile trade and industry nation over and in other countries, this chamber has organized Textile Trade Fairs under the brand name of ASIATEX, in the years of 1993, 1997 and 2005, all at different venue but in business capital City of India, Mumbai. These all events were highly successful beyond expectations and all those who participated were immensely benefited by having multiple growth in their respective business volumes.
- This chamber to its credit, is running a high school- CUM – Junior College named as MARWARI COMMERCIAL HIGH-SCHOOL AND JUNIOR COLLEGE at Mumbai where over 2000 students on average are studying through English and Hindi Mediums.
- This chamber to its credit, is running a Medical Centre at the premises where over 26 medical specialists are providing their services in 13 different faculties. On average, 35 thousand patients are taking advantages of this centre at very nominal charges. Apart from this, chamber is also providing financial helps to those needy patients with no means to afford expensive treatments.
SOCIAL WORKS :
This chamber has always remained in forefront in responding to its social responsibility in many national and natural calamities over the years. To name Few :
- Substantial financial contributions in National Defence Corpus in 1962 war with China.
- Substantial financial contributions for various welfare activities for war effected soldiers of 1965 and 1971 wars with Pakistan.
- Substantial financial contributions for welfare funds of soldiers during Kargil conflict.
- Various support activities during Tsunami havoc, Rs. 15 lacs worth contributions for Educational Developments Programme at five schools at Tsunami hit Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
- This chamber has built a 20 bed hospital in Sakol village of Latur District in Maharashtra State for Latur, Earthquake Victims.
- Support activities at various Draught situations Flood disasters, Communal riots and kinds of help by all possible means to effected humans.
FOCUS AND AIMS
Focus of our every activities at present revolves around two factors of a society in general. Over first being the overall developments of textile trade and industry by exploring new business avenues of expanding trade boundaries and make our society progressive on economical front, where only sky can be the limit. On other hand, we are not ignoring our common man, we are providing umpteen kinds of services as stated earlier and making a complete meaning of peaceful, healthy and meaningful brotherhood by playing our tailor made role every now and then and as per needs suitable to the situation by all available resources. Our motto of selfless services to trade and human kinds is endless. May almightily bless us to grow by strengths to enable us to open more and more service avenues.
PROGRAMMES OF NEAR FUTURE :
Our basic projection now under consideration for near future is to channelise all kinds of those available resources to the benefits of this textile fraternity, by putting everything on proper communication to our members by way of circulars, informative seminars, Workshops, educating them on latest modes of E-commerce and leading them to newer trade horizons so opened due to quota free textile trade world-over since 01.01.2005.We are targeting this entire set-up one – by – one and stage wise. To set forth the target, we are organizing ASIATEX – 2007, a textile trade fair of large magnitude where textile entrepreneurs from Asian countries are expected to participate. We are leveling entire theme of this event towards depicting our India, a prominent resourcing hub for textile and textile related products globally. Few informative seminars/conferences and an exclusive fashion show are also part of this event.
Next in the pipeline is putting E-commerce (communication) in the forefront of our entire business activities mainly with a view to establish instant interalia communication world – over to compete accordingly and reap the rich dividends of quota free textile trade climate globally.
We are also exploring and inviting other suggestions from other experts as well in support of our theme of multiple business growth of our textile industry, considered to be second largest industry of our India, contributing a major chunk in national economy and industrial sector. |
